Nicholas Rossi

Nicholas Rossi graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical-Toxicological Environmental Sciences and Safety from the University of Milan in July 2025 and is currently enrolled in the Master’s degree program in Safety Assessment of Xenobiotics and Biotechnological Products at the same university.

During her studies, she carried out research support activities under the supervision of Prof. Luisa De Cola at the Materials for Medicine Unit of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology of the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research, where she was awarded a scholarship intended for deserving students. In the same laboratory, she carried out her thesis internship with a project entitled “Development of Iridium(III)-Functionalized Hydrogels for the Detection of Micro and Nanoplastics in Aqueous Matrices”, focused on the synthesis and characterization of organometallic iridium complexes and their application as sensors for the detection of micro- and nanoplastics in environmental samples.

In September 2025, he received a fellowship as a promising young man at the Food Chemistry and Toxicology Laboratory of the Department of Pharmacological and Biomolecular Sciences “Rodolfo Paoletti” of the University of Milan, where he carries out research activities under the supervision of Prof. Chiara Di Lorenzo, focusing on the analysis of contaminants in complex food matrices using advanced instrumental techniques and the development of innovative biosensors for the detection of toxicologically relevant substances.
