The research activity of the Laboratory of Pharmacognosy of the Department of Pharmacological and Biomolecular Sciences “Rodolfo Paoletti” is mainly aimed at the study of medicinal plants and foods, in which the pharmacological approach is associated with a rigorous chemical investigation, in order to correlate the observed biological effect to one or more chemical entities.
The main research areas are:
- Anti-inflammatory activity of polyphenols of plant origin
- Study of products of plant origin for topical use
- Research of biological activities with an ethnopharmacological approach
- Chemical characterization, quality and safety of food
- Celiac disease and gluten-free foods
