The XXXIII National Congress of Phytotherapy, which will take place in Arezzo, is scheduled for May 16-18. Organized by the Italian Society of Phytotherapy (S.I.Fit.), the conference will be a moment of comparison and updating among researchers working in the field of medicinal plants.

The main themes of this edition are the following: resins (myrrh, boswellia, mastic); phytotherapy and pain; phytotherapy for cardiovascular health; role of medicinal plants in oncology; essential oils; innovation in plant medicines, nutraceuticals, medical devices and cosmetics; phytotherapy in the age of social media.

On Friday, May 16, the congress will host the fifteenth edition of SYRP: S.I.Fit. Young Researchers Project, the scientific meeting between young researchers under 38 who deal with phytotherapy and natural substances, in their various academic and industrial applications.

As usual, the Italian Society of Phytotherapy also establishes for 2025 two study awards named after its founder Professor Italo Taddei and its Honorary President Doctor Lamberto Monti. The 2025 “Italo Taddei” Award is intended for a graduate in the period from 1 January 2024 to 30 April 2025, who has discussed or is about to discuss a thesis relating to the study of the chemical and biological properties of medicinal plants and the current or potential therapeutic use of their complex derivatives or single secondary metabolites. All candidates for the 2025 “Italo Taddei” Award and the authors under 35 of the oral presentations and posters selected and presented at the congress will participate in the 2025 “Lamberto Monti” Award. With these initiatives, the Italian Society of Phytotherapy intends to encourage the interest of new generations of researchers in the scientific study of medicinal plants that constitute both tradition and an important resource for modern pharmacology.
